Tropical Storm Gaston Update 1

Tropical Storm Gaston continues meandering west at 9 mph / 15 kph with no real change in strength, winds continue at 40 mph / 65 kph moving at 280º (west). Although there are no watches or warnings in effect since Gaston is still quite east of the Northern Leeward Islands or Lesser Antilles but there is no doubt that somewhere from the Lesser Antilles to Puerto Rico a Watch or Warning will pop up based on the Spaghetti on the map below. We are pleased to say that this week we are leaving on a road trip from Playa Del Carmen to Hidalgo in the center of the country for a road trip and photo shoots. Since today we are talking about “Inverted Troughs” I thought it would be a good idea to explain what it is and what it means here in our area. An inverted trough is an atmospheric trough which is oriented opposite to most troughs of the mid-latitudes. Some inverted troughs are tropical waves which can also be referred to as easterly waves.
