As we are approaching the beginning of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season (june 1st) I see more and more people searching for information on the season, weather forecast for Cancun and Playa del Carmen, 10 day forecasts and so on. So I thought apt to do as I do each year and get a preparation for the season here online.
The Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Tulum and Costa Maya hurricane season begins June 1 each year and runs through November 30th each year. The Pacific hurricane Season begins and ends 15 days earlier and if you look we are already on our 2nd named storm of the year on the pacific coast and the first hurricane approaching Mexico’s Pacific communities of Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo today.
The first named storm for the Atlantic has come and gone but was not in Mexico’s Caribbean Sea but formed in the Atlantic and remnants of that system continue to move northeast away from the US and a long band of rain being pulled behind it and over cuba but away from Mexico as you can see in this Satellite image of the Caribbean. The Cayman Islands as well as Cuba should be experiencing rainfall and winds today as the system continues to pull to the north northeast
Abril Frias from Weddings Turquesa messaged me early today that it was Cloudy in Playa del Carmen and she was concerned for a large wedding she has tomorrow at the Fairmont Mayakoba with hundreds of guests arriving from different parts of the world. No it will not rain on your wedding Saturday! I am gonna send a message to Kukulcan to put a good word in with mother nature for you. Good luck with your wedding.
