Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Saturday September 4, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

Today we are again off to a beautiful day here in the Riviera Maya with Sunny skies and warm temperatures in the morning, last night we had beautiful clear skies, you could see all the stars from the beach and the lights on Cozumel, the day is looking to be quite nice again. We did have some local shower activity around Cancun and The Riviera Maya but nothing that dampened the day thats for sure. In the evening as well we had a bit of a shower that delayed 15 minutes the opening of a benefit fashion show but the show did go on and we will have coverage in our next edition.

The remnants of Tropical Storm or Depression Gaston got a little better organized last night but still just something to be observed. Conditions in the Tropical Atlantic continue to be excellent for Tropical Storm development. Two very active low pressure systems that moved off the West Africa coast are also to be taken seriously as them move slowly westward.

Tropical Satellite Image for Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Coast and Mexico in General.

The BIG news for weather in Mexico continues to be the Central, South Central and Pacific Coast of Mexico. Already suffering from widespread flooding and severe damage to material goods parts of Mexico in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas remain underwater. Again the National Weather Service in Mexico has issued an INTENSE STORM WARNING:

A special advisory for the INTENSE STORMS for the next 72 hours (Until 3pm September 6) for the following states and regions.

Until 3PM Saturday:

OAXACA (the entire state), VERACRUZ (The entire State), TABASCO (Southwest), CHIAPAS (Coastal Areas);

Until 3PM Sunday:

VERACRUZ (Central and North), PUEBLA (North and East), HIDALGO (North and East), SAN LUIS POTOSÍ (East), OAXACA (The Entire State), GUERRERO (The Entire State), MICHOACÁN (South)

Until Monday 3 PM

PUEBLA (North), HIDALGO (North and East);

VERACRUZ (North), TAMAULIPAS (South), y SAN LUIS POTOSÍ (East)

High Possibility of rain with accumulations of 150 mm in 72 horas or more. The potential of rain is associated with a tropical low pressure interacting with Cold Front ·2 and Tropical Wave 26.

The intensity of the Storms can be accompanied by torrential rain, Cloud to Cloud and Cloud to Ground Lightning, HAIL and STRONG WINDS which can cause damage to property. Depending on the geographical area can also produce FLASH FLOODING, LANDSLIDES OR MUDSLIDES.

Here in Cancun and The Riviera Maya we have mostly sunny skies giving way to Partly Cloudy. We have a chance of scattered late evening showers. Most of the day there will be a nice breeze blowing 6 to 8 mph. The conditions in the Caribbean are NOT FAVORABLE for development of Tropical Systems.

The conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Conditions in the Tropical Atlantic are VERY FAVORABLE for Development but 4 tropical storms in 11 days I didn’t have to tell you that, did I. For now 2 more Tropical Waves are moving off the west coast of Africa which without doubt will become named storms in the course of the next couple of days.

Current Condtions in Playa Del Carmen:

Skies: Mostly Sunny Skies

Temperatures: Current 88º F / 31° C Highs 91° F / 33° C Overnight Lows 75° F / 24° C

Humidity: 66%

Barometer: 30.00/ 1015 Falling (Playa Del Carmen)

Wind: 16 mph / 26 kph coming from the East Southeast

Warnings / Watches: There are no watches or warnings for our area of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Weather Outlook for Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and The Riviera Maya.

For Cancun and The Riviera Maya for today and Sunday we will have more of what we had yesterday, mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, hot and not as humid today as past weeks. Partly to Mostly Cloudy skies could prevail most of the time, temperatures will reach the low 90′s F / low 30′s C, we have a chance of an evening or overnight shower or thundershower. Overnight lows will be around 77º F / 25º C a little warmer than previous nights.

Conditions in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

If you take a look at the our Local Radar Here you can see that there is no shower activity on the Radar within range (radar range is 299 kilometers). Our Radar is updated every 15 minutes 24 hours per day.

Meanwhile if you are in Cancun, The Riviera Maya or the Islands here be sure you get the sunblock on whether you are laying on the Beach, doing a tour or just walking around getting oriented, the sun will be behind clouds from time to time today making you think you don’t need sunblock but you DO. Make sure you hydrate, drink lots of water, and if you are at the pool or on the beach stagger between those beers and cocktails a nice bottle of water. Don’t take the sun for granted, enjoy your vacations.

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Friday September 3, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

Today we got off to a beautiful day here in the Riviera Maya with Sunny skies and warm temperatures in the morning, last night we had beautiful clear skies, you could see all the stars from the beach and the lights on Cozumel, the day is looking to be quite nice again.

Tropical Storm Gaston that formed 2 days ago in the Tropical deemed to be Gaston the Terrible fizzled out thats to lots of Backwash conditions from his 3 amigos Danielle, Earl and Fiona. But lets not give up on Gaston just yet, he may have fizzled out to nothing but some disorganized clouds and showers But, those clouds and showers DID increase overnight. Conditions in the Tropical Atlantic are VERY FAVORABLE for re-development of this now low pressure area as it crawls west at 5 mph / 7kph for the next couple of days.

Another Tropical Wave located between the Coast of West Africa and the Cape Verde Islands is producing alot of showers and thunderstorms and conditions are somewhat favorable for this system to become a tropical event in the next couple of days and later be the next named storm of the season.

Tropical Satellite Image for the Caribbean, gulf of Mexico and Mexico in General

In the Central, South and Southeast of Mexico we continue to have unstable conditions as well as a low pressure area the result of that yellow line you see there that are Low Pressure Troughs through the central and western part of Mexico Bringing Unstable Conditions to the areas of Central Mexico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Northern Chiapas. There is an intense storm area in the Pacific just off the Coast of Chiapas which is causing Showers and Thundershowers in that area and could bring more rain to an already soaked region. We have a Tropical Depression off the coast of Baja California Sur which is the remnants of Hurricane Frank moving to the northwest.

In the Central, South and Southeast of Mexico we have unstable conditions and a low pressure area the result of that yellow line you see there that are Low Pressure Troughs through the central and western part of Mexico Bringing Unstable Conditions to the areas of Central Mexico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Northern Chiapas. There is a Low Pressure area in the Pacific just off the Coast of Chiapas which is causing Showers and Thundershowers in that area and could bring more rain to an already soaked region. We have a low pressure off the coast of Baja California Sur which is the remnants of Hurricane Frank.

The National Meteorological Office in Mexico has issued an INTENSE STORM WARNING until 15:00 hours Thursday September 2, 2010 for Chiapas and Oaxaca.

The intensity of the storm can be accompanied by intervals of heavy downpours, cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning, hail and strong damaging winds. Depending on the local area also flash flooding, mud slides and landslides are possible.

Here in Cancun and The Riviera Maya we have mostly cloudy skies. We have a chance of scattered late evening showers. Most of the day there will be a nice breeze blowing 8 to 10 mph. The conditions in the Caribbean are NOT FAVORABLE for development of Tropical Systems.

The conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Conditions in the Tropical Atlantic are VERY FAVORABLE for Development but 4 tropical storms in 11 days I didn’t have to tell you that, did I?

Overnight lows will be around 75º F / 24º C.

If you take a look at the our Local Radar Here you can see that there is some shower activity scattered around the Interior of the Yucatan Peninsula spreading from south to north in Quintana Roo but the heaviest rain right now in Yucatan. Also we are seeing some showers as well 200 kilometers northeast of Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula, (radar range is 299 kilometers).

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Tuesday August 31, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

A Sunny end to the Month of August today with Mostly Sunny Skies, Hot and not as humid as last week. Ending the 3rd Month of the 2010 Hurricane Season on a relatively dry and uneventful note. Looking back we can see that in August we had very little rain (sustained rains) we did have some days with afternoon, evening or overnight showers and that was about it. One day we did have some areas with extended showers for a couple of hours but nothing like all day rain or downpours and obviously nothing like the Pacific or Gulf Coast states of Mexico who are still suffering the effects of Overflowing Rivers, Flooding, and homes without power or water.

Hurricane Earl a Dangerous Category 4 hurricane continues moving away from the Virigin Islands, Tropcial Storm Warnings are up for Turks and Caicos as well as the Southeastern Bahamas. The Center of Hurricane Earl will pass quite east of the Bahamas but Tropical Storm conditions are possible there.

Tropical Storm Fiona riding the coat tails of Earl? Not really, Fiona was farther south than Earls path and Fiona will turn more north sooner than Earl did basically missing the areas that Earl Affected the last couple of days. Fiona remains unchanged with winds of 40 mph / 65 kph and moving West Northwest.

Tropical Satellite Image for Tropical Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and Mexico in General

Warnings and Watches:

Tropical Storm Warning for Antigua, Barbuda, Monserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis.

There is a Tropical Storm WARNING for the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Tropical Storm Watch continue for Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, St. Maarten, Saba, St. Eustatius.

You can follow all of the local volunteer weather folks and reporters on Storm Carib who while they have access to Internet post updates during and after the Tropical Events including some photos.

Hurricane Earl and Tropical Storm Fiona are NO THREAT to Mexico.

On the map you can see the current position of Hurricane Earl moving away from the Virigin Islands continuing to move West Northwest although slightly turning more towards the North 300º today as opposed to 285º yesterday.

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Monday August 30, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

A Beautiful Sunday Morning here in Playa Del Carmen, I have to wash the car today for sure, lots of guests coming in tomorrow and can’t pick them up at the airport in a dirty car. Not alot of new stuff to discuss but lets get to it so I can get pending things done.

Hurricane Earl was upgraded to a Category 3 Hurricane, a Major Hurricane with sustained winds of 125 mph / 200 kph and continues to move to the West Northwest. As you remember yesterday Hurricane Earl was barreling west at a 18 mph and we expected a slight turn to the Northwest which Earl is beginning to take. Current movement is 285º and yesterday we were at 270 in the morning and 275º in the evening. The bad news is that Earl continues to gain strength and today or tonight should upgrade again to a Category 4 Hurricane as conditions in the Atlantic are perfect for development.

Warnings and Watches:

There are hurricane warnings for the Islands of Culebra and Vieques, the government of Antigua and Barbuda have downgraded to a Tropical Storm Warning for Antigua, Barbuda, Monserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis.

There is a Tropical Storm WATCH for the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Hurricane Warnings continue for Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, St. Maarten, Saba, St. Eustatius, The British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands and as mentioned above Culebra and Vieques.

Hurricane Watches are in effect for the rest of Puerto Rico.

You can follow all of the local volunteer weather folks and reporters on Storm Carib who while they have access to Internet post updates during and after the Tropical Events including some photos.

Tropical Storm Earl is Currently of NO THREAT to Mexico.

Tropical Satellite Image for the tropical Atlantic, Caribbean and Mexico

INVEST 97L Continues to be an INTENSE Tropical Wave that has very organized clouds, showers and thundershowers associated with it and Conditions are Excellent for development of this system. Wind speeds of 25 mph / 40 kph down slightly from yesterdays winds of 30 mph / 48kph but conditions are EXCELLENT for this system to become the future Tropical Storm Fiona. Models altough at this point very inaccurate show that this system should follow along the same path as Earl and could have a major affect on the Northern Leeward Islands and as well as the Islands mentioned in the Watches and Warnings for Earl. We will keep a close eye on this system for changes.

Hurricane Danielle is still out there moving Northeast and hitting colder waters and losing force. I guess I need to mention that Hurricane Danielle is of NO THREAT to MEXICO.

On the map you can see the current position of Hurricane Earl on top of the Northern Leeward Islands continuing to move West Northwest (slightly more Northwest today) although slightly turning more towards the Northwest 285º today as opposed to 270º yesterday. here in the Southeast Caribbean around Jamaica we have some very disorganized clouds and showers moving to the west towards the Central America Coast. All that colorful stuff yesterday is dumping some heavy rain in Central America including Belize and parts of the Southeast of Mexico like Campeche, Chiapas and Southern Quintana Roo. In the Central, South and Southeast of Mexico we have unstable conditions and a low pressure area the result of those yellow lines you see there that are Low Pressure Troughs through the central and western part of Mexico Bringing Unstable Conditions to the areas of Central Mexico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Northern Chiapas. There is a Low Pressure area in the Pacific just off the Coast of Chiapas which is causing Showers and Thundershowers in that area and could bring more rain to an already soaked region. That low pressure is moving west but will turn more north today and move along hugging the Pacific Coast of Mexico until at least Thursday.

Here in Cancun and The Riviera Maya we have partly cloudy skies and we could enjoy mostly sunny skies. We have a chance of scattered late evening showers. Most of the day there will be a nice breeze blowing thanks to that cold front that isn’t really lingering but its affects are. The conditions in the Caribbean are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Other than a blob of weather off the Florida Panhandle moving East??? there is nothing in teh Gulf of Mexico at this time. The conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Current Condtions in Playa Del Carmen:

Skies: Mostly Sunny Skies some Clouds

Temperatures: Current 88 F / 31° C Highs 91° F / 33° C Overnight Lows 75° F / 24° C

Humidity: 66%

Barometer: 30.00/ 1015 Falling (Playa Del Carmen)

Wind: 13 mph / 20 kph coming from the southeast

Warnings / Watches: There are no watches or warnings for our area of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Weather Outlook for Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and The Riviera Maya.

For Cancun and The Riviera Maya for Sunday we will enjoy some more of what we had yesterday, partly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, not as hot and humid today as past weeks. Partly Sunny skies will prevail most of the time, temperatures will reach the low 90′s F / low 30′s C (we are about there now and it feels like 98ºF / 36º C) we have a chance of an evening or overnight shower or thundershower. Overnight lows will be around 75º F / 24º C.

Conditions in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

If you take a look at the our Local Radar Here you can see that there is no shower activity within 50 miles of Cancun (radar range is 299 kilometers). We see some scattered shower activity outside the 100 mile area to the Northeast, East and Southeast of Cancun but very scattered and there are some areas in land in the State of Yucatan with scattered light showers.

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Sunday August 29, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

A Beautiful Sunday Morning here in Playa Del Carmen, not going to wash the car today so we get a full day and night with no showers. Not alot of new stuff to discuss but lets get to it so I can get to the beach:)

Tropical Storm Earl STRENGTHENED overnight and has slowed his forward speed. Yesterday Earl was speeding toward the Leeward Islands at 25 mph with 65 mph winds but today he is moving at a slower speed of 18 mph and boasting winds of 75 mph / 110 kph which make Earl a Hurricane. According to the Saffir Simpson Scale Sustained Winds of 74 – 95 mph, 64 – 82 knots, or 119 – 153 kph is a Category 1 Hurricane which we currently have with Earl so we are calling him “Hurricane Earl” Conditions should begin to deteriorate today in the Leeward Islands as Hurricane Earl Approaches.

The government of Antigua and Barbuda has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the British Virgin Islands, a Hurricane Watch is also in effect for that area.

Currently A Hurricane WARNING is in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, St. Martin, Saint Barthelemy, St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius.

A Hurricane WATCH is in effect for British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico including the Islands of Culebra and Vieques.

Tropical Storm Earl is Currently of NO THREAT to Mexico.

INVEST 97L Continues to be an INTENSE Tropical Wave that has very organized clouds, showers and thundershowers associated with it and Conditions are Excellent for development of this system. Currently still only with wind speeds of 30 mph / 48kph but conditions are EXCELLENT for this system to become the future Tropical Storm Fiona. Models altough at this point very inaccurate show that this system should follow along the same path as Earl and could have a major affect on the Northern Leeward Islands and as well as the Islands mentioned in the Watches and Warnings for Earl. We will keep a close eye on this system for changes.

Cold Front #1 is bringing some lower temperatures in parts of Mexico and even here in our area with our daytime temperatures only reaching 87º F / 31º C and our overnights a nice 69º F / 21º C also responsible for that nice wind out of the East Southeast of 13 mph / 20 mph.

Tropical Satellite Image for Tropical Atlantic, Caribbean and Mexico

Weather Outlook for Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and The Riviera Maya.

For Cancun and The Riviera Maya for Sunday we will enjoy some more of what we had yesterday, partly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, not as hot and humid today as past weeks. Partly Sunny skies will prevail most of the time, temperatures could reach the high 80′s F / low 30′s C and of course thanks to our field of high humidity (above 80%) a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thundershower. Overnight lows will be around 69º F / 21º C with a bit more wind as remnants of Cold Front #1 linger off the Yucatan Peninsula.

If you take a look at the our Local Radar Here you can see that there is no shower activity within 50 miles of Cancun (radar range is 299 kilometers). We see some scattered shower activity outside the 100 mile area to the Northeast, East and Southeast of Cancun but very scattered.

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Saturday August 28, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

Alot of weather to talk about still but here in the Cancun to Costa Maya not much new to talk about but lets get to it.

Hurricane Danielle downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 110 miles per hour moving to the North NorthEAST at 12 miles per hour keeping Danielle far from the coastal areas of the US and Bermuda. Hurricane Danielle is NO THREAT to Mexico and this will be the final comments in our reports about Danielle.

Tropical Storm Earl, slightly weaker today(wind estimates of 55mph), out there and the most concerning at the moment for the Leeward Islands still moving West, although computer models DO bring Tropical Storm Earl much closer to the Lesser Antilles, Antigua and Puerto Rico as well as the Virgin Islands than Danielle and much closer than expected. Tropical Storm Watches are up for Saint Martin, Saint Barthelemy, Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius. Conditions in the Tropical Atlantic are VERY FAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT so Tropical Storm Earl should get that upgrade sometime over the next day or so. Tropical Storm Earl like Hurricane Danielle is of NO THREAT to Mexico.

INVEST 97L which will most likely become the next named tropical system of the season, this is an INTENSE Tropical Wave that has very organized clouds, showers and thundershowers associated with it and Conditions are Excellent for development of this system. We will keep a watchful eye on the future Tropical Storm Fiona. Currently about 500 miles west of the position where Hurricane Danielle formed way back and models altough at this point very inaccurate show that this system should follow along the same path as Danielle and Earl.

On the Pacific side of Mexico we still have Hurricane Frank is now a Tropical Depression moving almost due North away from The National Meteorlogical Office has a Special Avisory for Severe Storms until 3PM today for CHIAPAS (Southeast and South), VERACRUZ (South) and OAXACA (Istmo de Tehuantepec). The Advisory states that “Intense Storms could be accompanied by Heavy Rain, Cloud to Cloud and Cloud to Ground Lightning, Hail, that can cause injury or damage to property. Low areas could be subject to flash flooding as well as landslides in mountain areas.

Cold Front #1 continues pushing down from the US into the Gulf of Mexico with a low pressure area behind it which can cause some unstable conditions as well as windy conditions and lower temperatures. You can check it out on the map.

Tropical Satellite for Tropical Atlantic, Caribbean and Mexico showing current areas of Concern

On the weather map here you can see that we have that Tropical Wave 25 has crossed the Yucatan Peninsula but its center has dropped down and is the system that is currently causing the previously mentioned Intense Storm Warnings from the Mexican Meteorlogical Office. This tropical wave has some scattered and disorganized clouds as well as some very disorganized showers and thundershowers moving in front of it.

Here in Cancun and The Riviera Maya we have partly to mostly cloudy skies, in the morning we had some shower activity that moved through quickly and gave way to mostly sunny skies. During the day we will have the chance of occasional scattered showers very isolated and not sustained. The conditions in the Caribbean are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Finally in the Gulf of Mexico near Louisiana a Low Pressure area that popped up yesterday (what a surprise on this odd weather day) should head inland in Louisiana some time today. The conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Current Condtions in Playa Del Carmen:

Skies: Mostly Cloudy with scattered showers around the area.

Temperatures: Current 88 F / 31° C Highs 91° F / 33° C Overnight Lows 75° F / 24° C

Humidity: 70%

Barometer: 29.95/ 1014 Steady (Playa Del Carmen)

Wind: 14 mph / 22 kph coming from the southeast

Warnings / Watches: There are no watches or warnings for our area of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Weather Outlook for Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and The Riviera Maya.

For Cancun and The Riviera Maya for Ssaturday and Sunday we will enjoy some more of what we had yesterday, partly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, hot and humid day. Partly Sunny skies will prevail most of the time, temperatures could reach the low 90′s F / 30′s C both days and of course thanks to our field of high humidity (above 80%) a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thundershower. Overnight lows will be around 75º F / 24º C with a bit more wind as Cold Front #1 begins pushing down and Tropical Wave 25 moves west off the Yucatan Peninsula. We have a chance of scattered brief showers or thundershowers around the area throughout the entire day and region.

Above I already commented on the situations with Tropical Depression Frank and Hurricane Danielle and Tropical Storm Earl so I won’t repeat that here.

Tropical Wave 25 and an inverted Trough can affect us with disorganized and scattered clouds and showers over the next 24 hour but nothing of any consequence but the Coastal Areas of Chiapas, Veracruz and oaxaca are under a Intense Storm Warning until 3PM today because of Tropical Wave 25.

Conditions in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

If you take a look at the our Local Radar Here you can see that there is no shower activity within 50 miles of Cancun (radar range is 299 kilometers). We see some scattered shower activity outside the 100 mile area to the Northeast, East and Southeast of Cancun but very scattered. Our Radar is updated every 15 minutes 24 hours per day.

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Friday August 27, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

Without a doubt the Weather wants to leave the Month of August with a bang, we have weather! Yesterday we had our early morning DOWNPOUR here in Playa Del Carmen, one of those scattered showers that lasted only 20 minutes but gave us a good soaking. At the same time Puerto Morelos, Cancun and Isla Mujeres were dry and sunny.

Hurricane Danielle now a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 135 miles per hour moving to the Northwest at 12 miles per hour and expected to turn more to the north sometime before Friday keeping Danielle far from the coastal areas of the US and of course our area as well. Hurricane Danielle is expected to take a turn more to the North Saturday sometime and steer to the east of Bermuda. Hurricane Danielle is NO THREAT to Mexico.

Tropical Storm Earl, out there to the Southeast of Danielle and still moving West, although Tropical Storms position has been adjusted to the south slightly there is no change in those computer models although the models DO bring Tropical Storm Earl much closer to the Lesser Antilles, Antigua and Puerto Rico as well as the Virgin Islands than Danielle and much closer than expected.

All that spaghetti showing that Earl will play follow the leader with Danielle and turn towards the North later down the road. Most of the models show that Vertical Shear will be quite low at least for the next 2 or 3 days giving Earl a chance to grow up and get one of those nice upgrades to Hurricane Status over the next day or two. Tropical Storm Earl is currently of NO THREAT to land BUT, I think we need to keep a very close eye on Tropical Storm Earl for any changes in conditions that could keep him on a westward course longer or not turning North on time. Tropical Storm Earl like Hurricane Danielle is of NO THREAT to Mexico.

New today we have INVEST 97L which will most likely become the next named tropical system of the season, this is an INTENSE Tropical Wave that has very organized clouds, showers and thundershowers associated with it and Conditions are Excellent for development of this system. We will keep a watchful eye on the future Tropical Storm Fiona.

On the Pacific side of Mexico we still have Hurricane Frank moving Northwest away from Mexico but tonight Hurricane Frank is expected to turn North and then head towards Baja California Sur. The National Meteorlogical Office has a Special Avisory for Severe Storms until 3PM today for Coastal Chiapas.

Tropical Satellite Image for the Tropical Atlantic, Caribbean and Mexico

On the weather map here you can see that we have that Tropical Wave 25 has moved closer to the Yucatan Peninsula but its center has dropped down and will cross the area of the Yucatan around Belize but extends as far north as the top of the Peninsula and south to Panama. This tropical wave has some scattered and disorganized clouds as well as some very disorganized showers and thundershowers moving in front of it. This system is very disorganized as are the showers and clouds and presents very little possibility of any development over the next couple of days. The conditions in the Caribbean are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Finally in the Gulf of Mexico near Texas a Low Pressure area has popped up (what a surprise on this odd weather day) and is moving west southwest so we have to see what will happen there. The conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are slightly favorable for development.

Current Condtions in Playa Del Carmen:

Skies: Mostly Cloudy with scattered showers around the area.

Temperatures: Current 81 F / 27° C Highs 91° F / 33° C Overnight Lows 75° F / 24° C

Humidity: 89%

Barometer: 29.90/ 1013 Steady (Playa Del Carmen)

Wind: 4 mph / 6 kph coming from the southeast

Warnings / Watches: There are no watches or warnings for our area of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Weather Outlook for Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and The Riviera Maya.

For Cancun and The Riviera Maya for Friday and Saturday we will enjoy some more of what we had yesterday, partly sunny to partly cloudy conditions, hot and humid day. Partly Sunny skies will prevail, temperatures could reach the low 90′s F / 30′s C both days and of course thanks to our field of high humidity (above 80%) a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thundershower. Overnight lows will be around 75º F / 24º C with a bit more wind as Cold Front #1 begins pushing down and Tropical Wave 25 moves closer to the Peninsula. We have a chance of scattered brief showers or thundershowers around the area.

Above I already commented on the situations with Hurricanes Frank and Danielle and Tropical Storm Earl so I won’t repeat that here.

Tropical Wave 25 can affect us with disorganized and scattered clouds and showers over the next 24 hour but nothing of any consequence but the Coastal Area of Chiapas is under a Severe Storm Warning until 3PM today because of Tropical Wave 25.

Conditions in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

If you take a look at the our Local Radar Here you can see that there is no shower activity within 150 miles of Cancun (radar range is 299 kilometers).

Hurricane Frank who has remained off shore on Mexicos Pacific Coast but still dumping torrential rains, wind and causing flash flooding in many areas of Southeast Mexico from Chiapas to Acapulco and Colima will take a turn to the north or northeast sometime this weekend and could take aim at Baja California Sur.

While Hurricane Frank is a non-performer really, he has stayed a Category 1 Hurricane and this weekend will bump into conditions that will start to dismantle the organization of Frank and he will begin losing strength. At the same time Frank will take a turn to the north and begin moving towards the coast of Baja California Sur, interests in the area between La Paz and Santa Rosalia.

Some models have Hurricane Frank approaching the coast as a Tropical Depression other models have him fizzled out to a simple low pressure but we need to keep a watchful eye on Frank over the weekend.
