Cancun – Riviera Maya Weather Tuesday August 31, 2010

Cancun and Riviera Maya Weather for Tuesday August 31, 2010 including Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Tulum and the Islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Weather Discussion:

A Sunny end to the Month of August today with Mostly Sunny Skies, Hot and not as humid as last week.  Ending the 3rd Month of the 2010 Hurricane Season on a relatively dry and uneventful note.  Looking back we can see that in August we had very little rain (sustained rains) we did have some days with afternoon, evening or overnight showers and that was about it.  One day we did have some areas with extended showers for a couple of hours but nothing like all day rain or downpours and obviously nothing like the Pacific or Gulf Coast states of Mexico who are still suffering the effects of Overflowing Rivers, Flooding, and homes without power or water.

Hurricane Earl a Dangerous Category 4 hurricane continues moving away from the Virigin Islands, Tropcial Storm Warnings are up for Turks and Caicos as well as the Southeastern Bahamas.  The Center of Hurricane Earl will pass quite east of the Bahamas but Tropical Storm conditions are possible there.

Tropical Storm Fiona riding the coat tails of Earl? Not really, Fiona was farther south than Earls path and Fiona will turn more north sooner than Earl did basically missing the areas that Earl Affected the last couple of days. Fiona remains unchanged with winds of 40 mph / 65 kph and moving West Northwest.

You can follow all of the local volunteer weather folks and reporters on Storm Carib who while they have access to Internet post updates during and after the Tropical Events including some photos.

Hurricane Earl and Tropical Storm Fiona are NO THREAT to Mexico.

On the map you can see the current position of Hurricane Earl moving away from the Virigin Islands continuing to move West Northwest  although slightly turning more towards the North 300º today as opposed to 285º yesterday.

In the Central, South and Southeast of Mexico we have unstable conditions and a low pressure area the result of that yellow line you see there that are Low Pressure Troughs through the central and western part of Mexico Bringing Unstable Conditions to the areas of Central Mexico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Northern Chiapas.  There is a Low Pressure area in the Pacific just off the Coast of Chiapas which is causing Showers and Thundershowers in that area and could bring more rain to an already soaked region.  We have a low pressure off the coast of Baja California Sur which is the remnants of Hurricane Frank.

Here in Cancun and The Riviera Maya we have mostly sunny skies. We have a chance of scattered late evening showers. Most of the day there will be a nice breeze blowing 10 to 12 mph. The conditions in the Caribbean are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

The conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are NOT FAVORABLE for development.

Make sure you hydrate, drink lots of water, and if you are at the pool or on the beach stagger between those beers and cocktails a nice bottle of water.
